The 2012 Hertfordshire Business Awards launched in style at Blakemore House, Little Wymondley last Thursday (June 14) with 75 guests in attendence.
Within minutes of the website going live the entry packs were being downloaded giving a good indication that the awards are on for another phenomenal year. In 2011 more than 300 entry packs were downloaded by more than 170 different businesses, proving that business is vibrant and alive in the Hertfordshire.
Managing Director of Blakemore House and Richmond Creative Events Terry Hughes commented: “We are delighted to have hosted the launch event for the Hertfordshire Business Awards and we wish all the nominees every success.”
From main sponsors BDO, Business Development Manager Karl Kirk said of the event: “ I was very encouraged by the number of people who came up to me afterwards and agreed with my comment that what we need to do is look up and look forward and stop dwelling on the past. Encouragement and the reporting of good news is what we need. That is essentially what these awards are here to do.” Businesses in attendance heard from Archant Anglia’s Events Manager Sarah Scott on the awards entry process and tips on how to put a good entry together. Sarah also spoke of an exciting new category for 2012, the Judges’ Award, which will go to one of the 2012 award winners with £10,000 worth of in paper, digital and print advertising courtesy of Archant.
Of the awards she said: “Now in its 16th consecutive year it makes me extremely proud to see the Hertfordshire Business Awards going from strength to strength and breaking boundaries with regards to entries.
“In very uncertain times it is fantastic to see so many businesses doing well and encouraging to see how businesses are diversifying in their business plans and looking at new ways to promote their business. With the awards we endeavour to help those businesses with just that.”
Guests at the launch were treated to a sumptuous feast by Blakemore House a venue that is available for a cross range of events from conferencing through to parties and weddings. Other businesses in attendance were 2011 New Business Award winner Alliance Scaffolding. Director Justin Wall said: “We entered the awards after only three months of trading as we saw the opportunity as a way to fast-track our business name into the public arena. It worked, the praise, respect and encouragement that we received from key industry figures and the award judges has reassured us that we are doing things right.”
