Currently under construction, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden will provide Warner Bros. with a permanent, state-of-the-art UK production base when it opens in 2012.
Once complete, Warner Bros. will be the only Hollywood studio to own and operate its own production facility in the UK and Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden will be one of the largest studio production facilities anywhere in the world.
A quarter of a million square feet of dedicated soundstages, and the largest back-lot in Europe, will accommodate major film, TV and advertising productions within its secure 200 acre site.
As part of the re-development of the site, which has seen the production of all eight Harry Potter films and many other recent Warner Bros. hits including The Dark Knight and Sherlock Holmes 1 & 2, two new sound stages are being built to house Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is a behind-the-scenes walking tour which will immerse guests into the world of film-making. The tour will feature authentic sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter film series and showcase the British artistry, technology and talent that went into producing these iconic movies.
Alongside this attraction, a UK Corporate Archive has been established to catalogue and preserve Warner Bros. production assets such as props, scripts, artwork, and wardrobe for purposes of historical record, promotional ventures and exhibition. The team is already working to preserve items from the multitude of films currently in production in the UK, and working to supply the vast array of Harry Potter items for display in the upcoming Studio Tour stages.
In addition, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden has its own Production Rentals division, which provides the film and television industry with lighting equipment, scaffolding and location supplies. The vast inventory is maintained by a team of experts within each field who have a wealth of experience in the industry.
