Medium Business of the Year

This award is open to any business that has a turnover of £2m-£20m, whose growth, ambition and quality of management has enabled it to deliver on a compelling business strategy.

The economic context of the industry and business will be taken into account by the judges. 

The judges will be looking for evidence that include the majority of the following:

Strategy – Evidence of a vision/strategy that may include a Business Plan.

Business Performance – Controlled growth, sustainable and strong performance in the context of the market in which they operate.

Employment & Training – Created new jobs or introduced flexible working practices.  Managed staff innovatively to match Business needs.  Developed and trained its people. Staff benefits.  Pastoral care of staff.

The judges said: “In a very strong category, Smyle demonstrated all-round business excellence. A clear business plan, market differentiation, sharp yet sustainable increases in turnover and profit, excellent staff training and welfare, all whilst leading the sectors green agenda, made this company impossible to fault.”
