The Innovation Award – Sponsored by Hertfordshire LEP
This award celebrates businesses who are prepared to conceive, test and practice new ideas.
The judges will be looking for evidence that include the majority of the following points:
Real Innovation – Is this a new idea or rehash of an old idea?
Measurable Results – Demonstrate how the innovation has been proven by usage and offer comparable results.
Practicality – Show how the innovation has benefited staff and/or management.
Cost impact – Was innovation expensive, what running costs are involved and are these compensated by returns?
Company’s overall attitude to change – Was this a one off or is the company actively seeking and developing new areas?
Usefulness elsewhere – Show how this innovation could affect other businesses. Could it be transferred successfully elsewhere, and interpreted into other developments?
School Staffing won this award in 2012.
The judges said of our winner: ‘RecruitED’ combines business process and information technology. It has enabled School Staffing to deliver an excellent service of providing teaching staff to schools, by managing, in an innovative way, the communications and recruitment processes between schools, teaching staff and recruitment staff. ‘RecruitED’ reflects the culture within School Staffing of continuous improvement and innovation to deliver the best service for its customers, suppliers and staff.
Managing director Greg Oram, said: “At last year’s awards we had two near misses, so it’s nice to pick up an award. This is down to a culture of hard work from a whole group of people. Next year we hope to push on and achieve more.”
